Miquel Barceló is famous and recognized internationally as one of the most important artists at present. Besides, as a local artist, is closely joined to the island and to the most emblematic historical building: the Cathedral and its Chapel of the Santíssim. This itinerary will reach you to know the figure and the art work of the famous artist. The tour starts visiting the Spanish Museum of Contemporary Art situated in Sant Miquel street, near the centric Plaza Major. There, you will discover a contemporary tour through the art work of Miquel Barceló in his artistic and historical context with explanations of paintings and ceramics. Afterwards we will approach the Cathedral, where you will be shown by explanations, the history of the building and the main milestones that have marked its artistic evolution throughout the centuries, from the original Gothic construction, to the Gaudí reforms, and the altarpiece of Corpus Christi.
